Searching for a Pen Pal
I have spent the last couple of days in search of a snail mail pen pal. I haven't had a pen pal since I was very young and I miss it very much.
Through my research, I found a few sites that have listings, or ads, for people searching for snail mail pen pals. I read through a ton of ads and e-mailed the people I felt would be a good match with me. My e-mail was a brief introduction. I e-mailed about six different people...days ago, and I have yet to hear back from any of them, apparently. It has been quite frustrating, as I am eager to begin corresponding.
One of the ads had an actual mailing address, in Sri Lanka, and I went ahead and sent a letter. The ad with this address was a little over a year old, so I am not sure if the person from the ad still resides there. I guess I'll find out if they either A) never write back, or B) I get a letter telling me that the person I am trying to contact no longer lives there.
The thought of having a pen pal again has made me so happy and hopeful, that I spent over an hour going through boxes of stuff in the space underneath my stairs, until I finally dug up my old box of stationary. Afterward, I wrote up a list of items that I am willing to exchange with foreign pen pals. I want to exchange pieces of culture. I want to meet and learn from someone new.
I honestly don't understand why I haven't received a response back yet from any of my potential pen pals, but it has made me a bit restless to tell you the truth.
To take my mind off of the fact, I have been working on some gifts for a good friend of mine. That, and I've been pretty much watching the days of this new year roll by (it's already Jan. 4!!!).
...I need a long vacation...
