Her Boyfriend's A Real Clown
When my brother turned 1, my family threw a big party for him and they used this giant clown pinata that they had been keeping in storage for years. The same pinata had been used at my first birthday. My mom invited the girl next door, who was my best friend, and at nightfall, my aunt dragged the clown pinata into the house and all the remaining kids went inside to watch Dumbo.
My friend, her name was Adriana, was a year older than me- in first grade while I was in kindergarten. Anyway, she was always very out there and getting into trouble. My mom knew that, but she would let me play with her as long as she could supervise us closely.
Anyway, we're all in the family room watching Dumbo and Adriana starts whining that she's bored. So I suggest we play a game. My idea of a game was something innocent, like hide and seek. Adriana, however, had other ideas. She walked up to the five foot tall clown pinata and said, "Let's pretend he's my boyfriend!"
She began dancing in place with the pinata, while I watched in bewilderment.
My older cousin, Arisel, spotted my friend's dumb antics and grabbed the pinata away. "That's not a toy!" I remember her shouting, and dragging the huge thing into another room.
I went back to watching Dumbo.
